Habitat for Humanity

After a long week of construction work, we are exhausted, well maybe not me but Amberly is. Doing Habitat in Hungary was a great and fun experience. We got to spend two days in Budapest before heading to a small village about 2 hours outside the city. We were worried about our living condition at first for we were told that we will be staying at a campground in some cabins, and from Amberly's prior experience of staying in Eastern European cabins it might not be the best of places to stay. Well once we got to the so called cabins we were really excited because they turned out to be more like apartments. They also had two pools and a thermal medicinal bath, which is very popular in Hungary. The next day we got straight to work. Amberly worked inside sanding and plastering the joints in the walls while I worked outside digging a hole for the water main. Amberly had a hard time the first day for she had no idea what she was doing, and the site foreman was not much of a teacher. So the next day, I was called inside to help with the plastering because of my experience, but ended up installing dry wall while Amberly continued to plaster and sand, but with my help she was a lot better at it. The rest of the week consisted of me installing dry wall with some plastering (mostly fixing gaps in the dry wall that other people put up) while Amberly continued to plaster and also did some painting. We also got to meet some of the people that we were building the house for and see where they live now so we could compare the two. Even though we could not communicate with them we could tell they were truly grateful. I would definitely recommend doing this to anyone interested. Habitat has tons of locations throughout the world; places close to your community and overseas.

Hawaii?

We received a call from the detailer the other day and she told us that a spot in Hawaii has opened and we have 30 days to decide if we want it. We can not make a decision to save our lives. Just picking a place to eat is a battle. We have discussed this over and over and decided that this is where God is leading us. This is such a hard decision especially after just returning home from Florida a few weeks ago. We miss our family and friends very much. Each time you go back to your hometown you are reminded how much you miss out on. Our prayer was specific and God delivered - Hawaii here we come.

Darren in Rome

So, Darren is in Rome right now; must be nice! He is there for work and returns Sunday. This is the first time they have chosen him to work in another country. He was super excited to go. I have been bored to death but can't account for all my 'free' time. I have been walking Bella which I never do, but that's about it. I should go cut the grass; it's so tall that Bella won't even go in it. I would take a picture and show you but Darren has the camera in ROME. Darren hasn't had a chance to do much around the house since we got back from Florida. Oh, funny thing - Darren called me the other day from ROME (I'm not jealous) to tell me that when he picked up his clothes from the cleaners at the hotel he found a thong mixed in with his stuff - good thing he found those before he got home and I found them! The guy that is there with him told him he should not tell me and let me find them because it would be funny. You can tell that guy hasn't been married for very long and probably for not much longer. LOL. I hope that he is doing a great job and is having a good time. Can't wait until he gets home -- so he can mow the lawn ;)
